TEACHER

POSITION DESCRIPTION

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor of Science or Arts degree
  2. A valid Arizona teaching certificate.

REPORTS TO: Principal or designee

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 9 months

JOB GOAL: Effective education of all students for whom they are responsible.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: The following list of specific duties or functions of classroom teachers is not intended to be exhaustive of all possibilities but, rather, to outline some of the most important aspects of the job.

  1. Pursue professional study in the teaching field; keep abreast of conditions and progress.
  2. Work for continuous improvement of instruction in his/her classes.
  3. Maintain a systematic plan for organization and presentation of daily teaching assignments.
  4. Lesson plans and outlines are necessary to assure full use of available materials, both from text and supplementary sources.
  5. Lesson plans must be available at all times for use by substitutes and for reference by other teachers, department heads and administrators.
  6. Assure student utilization of prescribed textbooks.
  7. Work with department heads and administration in organizing and improving courses of study and the curriculum.
  8. Keep complete and accurate records of student grades and attendance.
  9. Roll book must be according to the specified form since it is subject to audit for ADM and is the final check for pupil grades and attendance. These permanent record books will be checked periodically by administrators.
  10. Seating charts in all classes and special duty assignments must be kept in class book for use by substitutes.
  11. Give prompt and careful attention to routine classroom matters.
  12. Health of students

  14. Absence slips and attendance matters
  15. Lighting and ventilation
  16. Reports as required
  17. Individual differences of pupils
  18. Discipline: classroom control is one of the prime factors of teaching, and the teacher is responsible for maintaining a condition in the classroom to promote the learning situation.
  19. Counsel students and contact the home when necessary.
  20. Cooperate with the counselor in any case which needs special attention.
  21. Help supervise the conduct and welfare of all students on the school premises or at school functions.

 

  1. Care for and help protect school property.
  2. Help stimulate and support student activities.
  3. Work through proper channels.
  4. Keep assigned students under direct supervision.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
